The 2013 Festival is June 6th-9th
Founded in 1925, the Santa Lucia Festival Committee strives to uphold Italian heritage, tradition, and faith celebration. The mission of the committee is to give back to the community of Omaha, Nebraska. Over the years the committee has donated winter coats to needy families, visited the sick, donated to help the vision impaired, and more. The committee is made up of all volunteers that believe in upholding Italian heritage.
Each year the Santa Lucia Festival Committee holds an annual five day festival with authentic Italian foods, music, and history to help raise money to continue charitable contributions. This festival is modeled after The Festival of Santa Lucia held annually in December in Sicily. Almost every detail from the statue of Santa Lucia, to the procession through the street was a beloved homeland tradition of the committee’s founders.
